Established in 1865
Charles Booth was originally from Sheffield, a saw maker by trade. In 1857 he moved to workshops in Huddersfield located in the Marketplace, and then to Kirkgate next to the Fleece public house.
In 1865 he opened C Booth & Son originally Ironmongers & Cutlers on Cross Church Street.
Where Are we now?
Five generations later the shop is still family-owned and has built a solid reputation in the town and beyond for excellent customer service, teamed with an enviable stock list. Stocking a wide range of products from DIY & Hardware, Kitchen & Housewares, Garden Products, and much more, “Booth’s” is often described as a ‘“one-stop-shop” or even “Aladdin’s Cave”.
Regularly described as “a hidden gem” you will find Huddersfield’s one and only walk-in humidor within the shop. Offering Cuban and New World cigars, through to specialist pipe and hand-rolling tobacco, along with all the necessary accessories needed for the customer’s requirements.
Over the 156 years, we have been in business, we’ve seen the world around us change a lot. Two Worlds Wars and two Pandemics later, we have learnt how to adapt and diversify in order to keep up with our customer’s needs. We now find ourselves in a digital world where buying habits have changed. This has led to us putting a lot of time and effort into creating the website you are currently using.
